Labor Preparation and Delayed Labor

At Larson Acupuncture, we encourage mothers-to-be to begin a series of 4-5 labor preparation acupuncture treatments starting at 36 weeks. These treatments aim to encourage optimal maternal health before the birth of her baby, and encourage timely labor.

In cases of post-date babies, acupuncture can help encourage the body to go into labor on its own, rather than needing to be medically induced. Labor induction is a medical process using various pharmaceutical and physical methods to stimulate labor. Acupuncture for delayed labor, on the other hand, takes the approach of supporting the mother’s energy, helping to prepare her cervix and uterus for labor, and reducing the stress and anxiety that many women feel when their baby is post-date. We recommend 2-4 treatments to address delayed labor.
